Detailed Research Into The Audience of Our Film

We are choosing to brand our film at an audience of rated 15 considering the elements of drug abuse and bloody gore scenes in our film would be unsuitable for anyone aged younger than this.

This means our possible target audience would be made up of 15-mid 20 year olds who the cast of the film would appeal to considering all the actors are teenagers which makes the characters- especially our main character Agnes- relatable to our audience as this builds an empathic relationship with them, creating a connection when something tragic happens to one of the characters; Agnes' hanging scene for example.

Also, this age group could possibly relate to the strong themes of being neglected by their parents like our main character is, or possibly the drug abuse that is featured in our film considering the majority of teenagers/ young adults have experimented or have been peer-pressured into dabbling with drugs. This means they can relate to these topics in our film which, again, evokes empathy whilst intriguing them into the narrative of the film itself.

Our secondary audience would be anyone interested in the horror genre. The bloody gore scenes, jumpy editing and overall fear elements like the scary makeup on the actors would attract them to watching the film. Also, the mise-en-scene used such as dark clothing and typical horror conventions such as blood and knifes would also appeal to this audience.
