How far does contemporary media regulation differ from the past?


Offcom say what you can and can't showon television. They have rules. Films shown on television, anyone can watch whatever they like. They get live television, so it cannot be censored. There must be a lot of rules to make sure nothing bad can be shown.

The BBFC do not have rules but they have guidelines. Films are shown at the cinema. Pegi works very similar to the BBFC.
