Film company logo research

Before designing our own film company logo i think it would be a good idea to look into some existing logos that are well known to the public and look why they are so successful. 

Dream works

The first logo i looked into was the Dream works animation one. This logo is very simple but easily recognisable and makes sense to the audience. This company is known for producing films that are animated and cartoon like mainly aimed at a younger target audience. In the logo they have used a little boy shadow who is sat upon a moon shaped symbol. This shows the part of it called a dream hence the moon being used, they are showing that they want people to feel in a dream when they watch their films and that it should be enjoyed and to somehow escape reality. I really like this logo because of its simplicity and the fact it only uses one colour which is a bold one and can be associated with this specific company.

Universal 

The second logo i chose to investigate is another well known one and its called Universal. This logo is very obvious and uses a earth illustration in the background. However they don't use any colour i think this is a good idea to keep it black and white because it doesn't give anything away to the audience about what kind of films it produces. Despite this the name universal does suggest that its open to every time of film whether that be mainstream or independent. 

Paramount 
I chose this logo because it stands out to me and has the most illustration and colour on it out of the three that i've chose to analyse. I like this logo because it has the most detail and i think this will draw an audience in more because of the colours used. the name paramount makes sense because it is a mountain places in front of a sky that looks like sunset so it makes the audience feel at ease and chilled out. I also love the way it has stars around the name which gives across the idea it is high class and gets good ratings because stars are usually associated with that.

Conclusion
From looking at these three film logos its really helped me to understand whats needed to design a successful logo for our film the Intruders. To add to this i also need to bare in mind what genre our film is and to match that to the logo and also if our film is going to be classed as mainstream or independent.
