Mainstream or Independent?

Mainstream films:
Mainstream films are produced and distributed (usually) by conglomerate companies for example Disney or Warner Bros. Audiences will expect big things from mainstream films such as big explosions, famous actors and amazing special effects. Because these films are distributed by a lot of companies, the industries will want to change many things about the story line, therefore the original concept for the story could be changed completely. Mainstream companies will create films that appeal to many different audiences. They aim to give the audience more choice, therefore the industry will get more money. An example of a mainstream film, is 'The dark knight rises' by Warner Bros.

Independent films:
These films are produced and distributed by companies such as Warp films. Warp films is a British independent film company. Because they produce these types of films, they can create films that will stand out to specific audiences, and can create what they want. The special effects will not be as big as they are in mainstream films, and they will not usually have famous actors in them. An example of an independent film is, 'Four lions' by Warp films.

Our film will be an independent film. This is because it will have been produced by students and will not include any famous actors. There will be very limited special effects, but we are aiming to make our film create the suspension of disbelief, by using effects from 'Final cut pro.' The fact that our film is independent means that we can decide what will happen all way through our film, so we can aim it at a specific audience instead of a broader one.
