Agnes:
Agnes will not require much makeup as she is being portrayed as a young girl in the film; however, as a result of her traumatic circumstances in her childhood, we have decided it would add to the films verisimilitude if we use special effects makeup- such as white face paint- to make her look drained and ghostly.
The twist to this however is that, at the beginning of the film when she is unaware that she is in fact dead, she will have rosy cheeks and subtle lipgloss to make her look like a healthy young girl- but as hints slowly get revealed to her about her death, such as the news report on her murder, agnes will gradually begin to look more and more ghost-like, almost as if she is fading away. We feel this will add dimension to our film as it is something the audience can pick up on throughout the film and watch out for, intriguing them in the process.
Agnes' Mother & Father:
Obviously Agnes' father, (played by Jack) will not require any makeup- however, I am keen to apply face paint in order to make him look grubby and unkempt to add to the verisimilitude of his character and also use makeup (possibly dark eyeshadow) under his eyes to give the illusion of under eye bags, basically to make his overall appearance very sluggish and run down which makes the essence of the character more realistic as he is supposed to be portraying a drug addict.
However for the mother, we are going to apply dark and heavy eye makeup and a deep red lip then smudge the lipstick so she looks frightening as 'scary' faces are a convention of the horror genre, and to also create the effect of her being a sinister and out-of-control character due to the fact that she is trying to portray a drug addict, alike to Jack. The red lipstick also connotes danger which foreshadows Agnes' hanging, creates the overall 'horror' atmosphere of the film and also suggests she is a villainous character as she murdered her own daughter.
My own youtube tutorials for this makeup:

Ghost Dad & Daughter:
As we are filming the movie from Agnes' point of view, even though the ghost dad & his daughter are actually just new home owners of the property and have nothing sinister about them at all- in order to create the horror genre we must make them look threatening and how Agnes portrays them through her own eyes. As a result of this, I will apply face paint to the two actors in order to make them look like ghosts. Due to the films genre being horror, this scary makeup will give the audience the climax that they are expecting by watching this genre of film as frightening makeup is obviously expected in a horror film; this is another example of how we are going along with stereotypes.
Police Woman:
The significance of the police woman will already be stated with her uniform which will add to the verisimilitude, therefore special affects makeup is not required.
