Similar short films

Due to our film being only 5 minutes long i decided to do some focused research into short films with the use of the internet i found some useful ones that have a similar storyline to ours.

Firstly i chose a film i found on youtube which was based on a myth about a villain called slender man. I chose this film because when i watched it i realised it had similar parts and themes as ours. I think this because it is a very lonely film with just one main character being haunted by 'slender man'. This short film is also shot in very good locations that we should look at for our own film. It is based in a forest that looks very creepy and gives off a bad vibe especially when the character is on themselves. I also like how at the beginning of the film they are still scenes of a foggy park however this can only be filmed on a certain day when the weather is like that because it can be unpredictable. They use good props as well such as the dirty letter the main character finds on the ground the second time he enters the forest. I think its very good as well how they've used close up shots throughout the film which really gives it an intense feel and you get to feel the characters emotion more this way through the use of eye contact when shot in these angles. The film is called victim and the character does get an injury on the side of his head in the end this shows good use of make-up.

For my second choice i looked at a film that was slightly different to the first as it included a lot more characters and didn't have a very nice ending. This film also included more blood and violence than the first so i thought it would be good to look into. The film is called Luna and is about a girl who gets possessed a little like our film in the sense that the main character is also a girl. The film kicks off straight away with four murders whilst 'Luna' watches hiding in a stable so she knows who the murderer is. When the murderer comes back it seems that Luna has somewhat turned cannibal and eaten the remains of her family. I like this because we get to see the use of props using fake hands and arms on the floor with shots of them when the murderer comes back to check on the house by now it is dark outside adding to the horror making it more scary for the audience as you cant see everything in the shots just parts where lighting is used. In the end the girl gets possessed after being found by a police officer who is alone. I love it when they use eye contacts on the girl in white to let the audience know she's definitely not sane anymore especially when she screaming and her body suddenly disappears from the police woman. This is brilliant for us because we need to make our main character seem not quite right with the use of her acting and the way she handles herself similar to this film.
