1. Firstly their is the monster or the so called villain that plans to kill or do something to the other characters. Ghouls, zombies, psychiatric patients, murderers, monsters, mentally disturbed, animals and even the environment as demonstrated in the final destination, fate. These characters in the film industry are known as antagonists. 2. Dumb character who is usually the first victim and falls straight into the trap or gets captured at the very beginning to provide entertainment for the audience. This character can either be liked or portrayed as the annoying one they are also used to warn the other characters and confirm that their is something after them and they should be scared thus making the audience frightened.

3. There is always a clever character that is one step ahead and figures out the clues or how to escape the clutches of the killer. They usually end up surviving or getting to the end then being killed off by the 'monster' whatever it may be.
4. A group or set of main characters that are hunted down by it or haunted. Taking them down one by one eventually killing them all off. These characters can be known as protagonists.
5. The girl who promotes sex appeal into a film such as Paris Hilton in the House of wax. The final girl that gets to the end of the film typically and even in some films defeat the killer. They are usually dressed very skimpily and in most films tried to be killed in the bathtub as seen in Freddy Krueger. 6. Sometimes in films there is a person who wants to help and rescues people. They can either turn out to be good or evil posing as a friend when really they are leading them into the danger.
