Psycho

Synopsis
In a spur of the moment decision, Marion Crane decides to leave Phoenix with the $40,000 her boss entrusted to her to deposit at the bank. She's headed to her boyfriend Sam in Fairvale, California and the money will finally let them start their life together. After having spent a night in her car, she can't quite make all the way and spends her second night at the Bates Motel. There she meets Norman Bates, a shy and withdrawn young man who seems to be dominated by his mother. They chat for a while and as a result she decides to go back to Phoenix and return the money. She's still going to spend the night at the motel and decides to have a shower before going to bed. A week later Marion's sister arrives at Sam's store in Fairvale to tell him Marion has disappeared. Together with a private detective, Milton Arbogast, they begin searching the area and eventually come across the Bates Motel.

This is similar to our film because we have chosen to show somebody else's life to be taken by somebody else. In this case we are not told whether she knows the person who has died whereas in our the killers (the girl's parents) are shown to be the murderers. Our film is also similar to this one because she is taken away to be killed, even though she chose to leave, our victim doesn't choose for any of it to happen to her.

Black Swan

Synopsis
Thomas Leroy, the artistic director of a New York City ballet company, is mounting Swan Lake as the company's next production. Many of the ballerinas in the company aspire for the lead, which would have previously gone to the company's former principle dancer Beth Macintyre before her forced retirement. No one wants the the role more than Nina Sayers, who lives to dance, so much so that she wants to be exactly like Beth in every aspect. Nina lives with her overbearing mother, Erica Sayers, a former ballerina who now lives vicariously through her daughter as she never made it as a ballerina herself. Nina is a technically proficient and hard working dancer who can easily capture the essence of the innocent white swan, but Thomas doesn't believe she has the dark passion required to portray the black swan. An unexpected move by Nina convinces Thomas that Nina may have what it takes, and he gives her the lead. Thomas will do anything to get that passion out of her. Nina feels that her new place in the company is threatened by Lily, a ballerina newly arrived into the company from San Francisco. Lily, who is looser in every aspect of her life than Nina, encompasses the essence of the black swan more so than Nina. But as Nina believes Lily is to her what she herself was to Beth, Nina, in doing whatever it takes to be perfect as both the white swan and the black swan, descends into madness.
This shows the extremes of how 'mad' she become.

This shows how her body reacts to form the perfect ideal black swan character.

Black Swan is similar to our film because she turns psychotic because she wants something so much so is willing to do everything in her power to get it. Similarly to the parents in our film, because they don't want their child because the money they spend on her could be used to supply them with more drugs, therefore killing her seems like the best solution. Which is what Nina in Black Swan feels is the best way to get what she wants. Also some of the camera angles in this film could be used in our film to show the confusion and crazy emotions flowing through both the parents and the young girl (Agnes).
