Secondary Story Line Idea 

My second storyline idea is a romance about the protagonist- Summer Rose- a witty, young teacher who moves to the little village of Appleshaw from the city. Her life is going no where until she meets Gerard; a tall, dark and handsome man with a longing for love. This will be presented through a pink filter over the scene of which they meet, showing how they have instantly fallen in love. 

Summer takes an instant disliking to Gerard's predatory ways that he learnt during his time in the army. This relates to the popular 2010 romance, 'Dear John' considering that both of my male antagonists have an military background.

However, when Summer's jealous ex boyfriend hunts her whereabouts down, he comes to seek his revenge on her for their break up; surprisingly, Gerard springs to the rescue. Summer begins to realise that Gerard is actually very caring at heart.

But the pressures of Gerard's job as a police officer leave him blind to Summer's affections, therefore she begins to date other people in order to try and distract herself. I will film the scenes of Summer on said dates using several canted angle shots; this will suggest something wrongful about Summer having romantic relations with anyone else. This will foreshadow how herself and Gerard are destined to be together at the end of the film.

I will use conventions that will support the stereotype of the romance genre such as: swans which represent the innocence and purity of my female protagonist, Summer; ringing bells which convey weddings and joy; flowers to represent their blossoming love and the new chapter of their lives.    

Finally- when sinister lawyer and antagonist, Jeff Parkes, threatens to come between the two, Gerard has to act fast. The mise-en-scene of my antagonist will imply his sinister traits to the audience as he will be dressed in dark colors. He admits his admiration for Summer and the two live happily ever after.
